About
I was raised in Portland, Oregon, and received a Ph.D. in Medieval History in 2003 from the University of Kansas, where I specialized in legal history, women's history, and the history of medieval Spain. I recently published my first book, "The Measure of Woman: Law and Female Identity in the Crown of Aragon" (University of Pennsylvania Press, 2010), and have begun work on two new projects: a social/cultural history of Catalonia's "first bad year," and a microhistorical investigation of a case of attempted murder in fourteenth-century Barcelona.
I am currently Associate Professor of History at California State University, Long Beach, where I teach both undergraduate and graduate courses in medieval history. I can be reached there at mkellehe ~at~ csulb ~dot~ edu.
I have been known to take pictures.
